Every time Zelensky sabotages the negotiations, Ukraine loses international credibility, the Russian diplomat pointed out.
On Thursday, Russian Foreign Affairs Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova criticized the government of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for turning the peace negotiations into a media spectacle.

Istanbul Talks: Russia To Seek Peace Without Committing to a Ceasefire
The Istanbul talks, which were originally scheduled for the morning, were postponed until the afternoon at the initiative of the Turkish government. This change coincided with a series of contradictory statements from the Ukrainian presidency, which the Kremlin viewed as a distraction tactic.
“Kiev’s rhetoric is clearly aimed at manipulating public perception. One day they say one thing, the next they deny it. This does not contribute to the process,” Zakharova said, emphasizing that Ukraine is not truly committed to peace.
Every time Kiev interrupts or sabotages the negotiations, Ukraine “shrinks—not only territorially, but also in terms of its international credibility,” she added.
In contrast, the Russian delegation is in Istanbul with clear instructions to seek a lasting peace that addresses the historical causes of the conflict between the two countries.
Zakharova stated that Berlin, Paris and London cannot aspire to play a constructive role in the negotiations while they continue to provide military support to Kiev. “Sending weapons into an active conflict is incompatible with any serious mediation effort,” she said, and called on the U.S. government to take responsibility for the Pentagon’s support of military biological programs in Ukraine.
The Russian diplomat also took the opportunity to thank China and Brazil for their continued support for a political and diplomatic resolution to the Ukrainian conflict. Zakharova pointed out that their position signals that, despite the dominant narrative in Western media, some members of the international community view Russia’s efforts to stabilize the region through dialogue in a positive light.
